This is the strongest section for white water rafting in the country. Reventazón, with 152 kilometers (9.5 miles) length, is one of the most important rivers in Costa Rica where the white man set up for the first time in the country.

This river is formed by the Macho and Grande de Orosi rivers in the high side, and another affluent is born in an old Irazú Volcano crater, the Reventado river that might have given the name to this impressive river: the Reventazón. This is one of the most famous rivers for rafting due to its different sections; Pascua is definitely the most extreme one. This tour needs all the energy, for which it is important to sleep well and leave Alajuela before 6.00 a.m., pass through San José and then have a delicious typical breakfast in Paraíso de Cartago.

After a two hour trip passing Turrialba, we arrive at the Bella Vista town in Siquirres. Once in the river at 9:30 a.m., our professional tour guides will deliver the rafting equipment: helmet, paddle and life jacket for each participant as well as a 6 person capacity boat and the guide who will accompany the rafting group. The explanation includes the commands to use in this abundant river. The first class four rafting is less than one kilometer (0.6 mile) from the beginning of the river, approximately 18 kilometers (11.25 miles) of strong paddling down the river rapid after rapid for two and a half hours of emotion crossing Mar del Norte, Frankenstein, Mente Sucia, El Horrendito, Indigestión, El Abismo, just to mention some of the strongest rapids, which are around twelve class four rapids. It starts in the Cartago province and ends in the Limón province on the Reventazón river bridge in Siquirres.

Near is a place for showers and clothes change, as well as a restaurant to enjoy a deserved hot lunch approximately at 1 pm. The return to San José and Alajuela will be between 4 and 5 p.m. through route 32, on a 2 hour trip passing the Braulio Carrillo National Park, one of the biggest and majestic rain forests in the country.

“Born in the foothill of Cordillera de Talamanca, extended throughout the Jiménez canton and surrounded by the picturesque Tucurrique and Pejibaye towns is the beautiful Pejibaye river, one of the most important natural areas in this region due to its crystalline water and its rain forest. It is adequate for rafting as people of any age can enjoy completely by mixing adrenaline with landscape beauty. ”

The tour starts in Alajuela, crossing San José and the Cartago province (the first capital of the country); we take a look at the Apóstol Santiago Ruins and the Los Ángeles Virgin Bassilica that keeps Los Ángeles Virgin, the Costa Rican Patron. Immediately, we arrive at Sitios Angostura Restaurant and Mirador in Paraíso de Cartago for an excellent typical breakfast. Then, we continue to the Pejibaye town crossing the Cachí Hydroelectric Dam (the first in our country) and observe plantations of “chayotes”, “pejibayes”, ferns and coffee as well as the majestic Velo de Novia waterfall.

At around 9:30 a.m. we meet the rest of the team in Taus, a town where rafting guides and kayakers deliver life jackets, helmets and paddles. They will be waiting for you enthusiastically to offer a day full of emotions through the water of this wonderful river. They will also give a safety speech and once you are prepared into the boat, your life adventure is about to start!

This section of the Pejibaye river has class II and III rafting ideal for nature lover adventurers and for family joy. During the two hour journey you can admire a great variety of birds like: toucans, herons and cormorants, and the end of the journey will be a peaceful rest crossing La Angostura Dam lake in Turrialba, where we can leave the paddles and enjoy the beautiful site.

We will dock beside the lake and go to Sitios Angostura Restaurant, where we can take a shower and change clothes. Their personnel will be waiting for us with a delicious lunch and then, we will return to San José using the same departure route.

A Costa Rican breakfast is offered at around 8:00 a.m. in a Paraíso, Cartago town restaurant with a spectacular view of the Orosi Valley.

Then we arrive to Tres Equis, Turrialba, a town where our guides wait for us with the equipment to start this wonderful adventure.

Each participant will receive a life jacket, a helmet and a row. One of the guides will give a safety speech and a small practice before facing whitewater rafting like Huacas, Cimarrones and Dos Montañas.

Pacuare is considered the most beautiful river in Costa Rica, and worldwide one of the best whitewater rafting rivers due to the scenic beauty, waterfalls, hiking trails and diversity of flora and fauna, among which participants will observe blue morpho butterflies, sloths, tucans, red frogs and great variety of birds. Thus, nature is present throughout the route.

This is a 3.5-hour journey with approximately 18 miles length. The minimum age for participants is 12 years old.

Once the river journey is finished, our customers are moved to a restaurant in Siquirres, Limón for a shower and a typical lunch.

We return to San José and leave rafters in their hotels between 5:30 and 6:30 p.m.
