Reventazón River - Pejibaye River
The tour starts in Alajuela, crossing San José and the Cartago province (the first capital of the country); we take a look at the Apóstol Santiago Ruins and the Los Ángeles Virgin Bassilica that keeps Los Ángeles Virgin, the Costa Rican Patron. Immediately, we arrive at Sanchirí Restaurant and Mirador in Paraíso de Cartago for an excellent typical breakfast. Then, we continue to the Pejibaye town crossing the Cachí Hydroelectric Dam (the first in our country) and observe plantations of “chayotes”, “pejibayes”, ferns and coffee as well as the majestic Velo de Novia waterfall.
At around 9:30 a.m. we meet the rest of the team in Taus, a town where rafting guides and kayakers deliver life jackets, helmets and paddles. They will be waiting for you enthusiastically to offer a day full of emotions through the water of this wonderful river. They will also give a safety speech and once you are prepared into the boat, your life adventure is about to start!
This section of the Pejibaye river has class II and III rafting ideal for nature lover adventurers and for family joy. During the two hour journey you can admire a great variety of birds like: toucans, herons and cormorants, and the end of the journey will be a peaceful rest crossing La Angostura Dam lake in Turrialba, where we can leave the paddles and enjoy the beautiful site. We will dock beside the lake for a shower, change clothes and transportation to Sanchirí Pacuare River
The tour starts between 6:00 and 7:00 a. m when our microbuses pick up the adventurers in the main hotels of the metropolitan area.
Then we arrive to Tres Equis, Turrialba, a town where our guides wait for us with the equipment to start this wonderful adventure. Each participant will receive a life jacket, a helmet and a paddle. One of the guides will give a safety speech and a small practice before facing whitewater rafting like Huacas, Cimarrones and Dos Montañas.
This is a 3.5-hour journey with approximately 18 miles length. The minimum age for participants is 12 years old.
Once the river journey is finished, our customers are moved to a restaurant in Siquirres, Limón for a shower and a typical lunch. We return to San José and leave rafters in their hotels between 5:30 and 6:30 p.m.
